HMRC Brexit Update

 15 - preparing export documents

HMRC Brexit update

HMRC has recently released a letter, to update businesses on Brexit and to help with preparations for all Brexit scenarios.

The letter asks these businesses to take three actions now:

  1. Register for a UK Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number

As we mentioned in our 'What is an EORI number' blog post, an EORI number is something we strongly advise all businesses to obtain, sooner rather than later.

  2. Decide whether they will use a customs agent to make import and/or export declarations or will make the declarations themselves using specialist software
  3. Contact the organisation that moves their goods (for example, a haulage firm) to find out if they will need to supply additional information to complete safety and security declarations

Being a global service provider, Crossflight already have the systems in place which declare our clients' shipments to HMRC, we are therefore ready to declare shipments sent to the EU should the need arise.
